Jon Jones addresses critics on bulking for heavyweight debut

Following the release of a new heavyweight training video, Jon Jones is grateful for any criticism that was directed at him.

In response to those who weren’t overly impressed with his most recent pad session with longtime coach Brandon Gibson, the former UFC light heavyweight champion on Friday.

Patience is the key

In the video, Jones beats mitts with his bare hands while writing that he is “exactly where I need to be” and that he is “excited to see myself in a few months when things actually start to ramp up.” Jones is making his long-awaited heavyweight debut. Feeling sharp across the board.”

The video was the most recent look at what a heavyweight version of the legendary fighter might look like when Jones eventually makes his UFC comeback.

Some say Jon’s slow

Jones responded to the clip on Twitter. “For all those who said I looked a little slow in my last training video, I appreciate the added motivation. “I’ll push harder, can’t wait for you all to see your boy in actual fight shape. Everything has its process.”

This is what he said

“I personally don’t feel slow, I’m aware that I’m not in camp and I am in a bulking phase. But I like people judging that version of me. It could only work to my advantage.”

One of the most successful champions in UFC history, Jones, 35, hasn’t competed since a contentious decision victory over Dominick Reyes in a title defense in February 2020. After relinquishing his 205-pound championship in August 2020, “Bones” concentrated on gaining weight in preparation for his eagerly awaited switch to heavyweight.

Whatever the outcome, Jones is anticipated to face former UFC champion Stipe Miocic. Although specific date hasn’t been set, Jones said on Friday that November is a potential target for his comeback. A title fight with UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou might not be entirely off the table either.
