Australian Cricket mourns the death of another legend in such a short time. Andrew Symonds one of the greatest players to play for Australia and a two-time World Cup winner has died in a tragic car crash on Saturday night.
The news of the former Australian cricketer’s tragic demise has left the entire cricket fraternity in shock. Symonds passed away aged 46 following an unfortunate car accident in Queensland, Australia.

Andrew Symonds represented Australia in 26 Tests and 198 ODIs scoring 1462 and 5088 runs and picking 24 and 133 wickets respectively. Andrew Symonds is survived by his wife Laura and kids Billy and Chloe. The family demands privacy at this difficult time. Post-retirement, he was working as a commentator for sports broadcasters and was a regular presence in the commentary box during Australia’s home season as well as in the Big Bash League

The cricketer passed away because of a road mishap. It was a single-vehicle crash that has cost him his life. Andrew was living in Townsville since he retired from cricket. It was only 50km outside Townsville that the accident took place, on Hervey Range Road. It was around 11 at night that the car had left the roadway. There were attempts to revive him. However, the legend succumbed to injuries.
Cricket fraternity pays tribute to Andrew Symonds
Symonds made his debut for Australia in November 1998 but it took him time to cement his spot in the side across formats. He first showed his class in the 2003 World Cup when Symonds rescued his side after 86/4 against Pakistan. He would go on to score counter attacking 143 runs in that match.
He also featured in 14 T20Is and averaged 48.14, besides playing for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians. He ended up winning IPL once with Deccan Chargers under Adam Gilchrist.
