While many former players and experts believe that Virat Kohli’s slump is due to being overcooked, former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif’s take on Kohli says otherwise. In a video taken over two years ago, Asif made some strong statements on Kohli, Sachin and Barbar Azam.
The video of the pacer is becoming popular on social media as Virat Kohli’s batting slump continues. In the video Asif can be heard saying:
“Virat Kohli is a bottom hand player. He’s doing well because of his fitness. [But] when his decline will come, I don’t think he will be able to make a comeback.”
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli registered consecutive ducks for the first time in his IPL career – both first-ball ducks. The former RCB skipper has managed only 119 in 7 innings this season with an average of 17. This is Kohli’s worst season since 2008 when he averaged 15.
The master batsman has been a shell of his former self, averaging below 30 in test cricket since 2020. Kohli is also at his most vulnerable in the white ball formats, having not been able to score a 100 in almost 3-years
While many fans are shocked by Kohli’s decline, Mohammad Asif’s accurate prediction on Virat Kohli seems to be even more shocking.
“Babar Azam is an upper hand batsman, like Sachin Tendulkar; his bat flow is fluent as it was of Sachin. People still say that Kohli is better than Sachin. No – he’s no where even close to Sachin. Because Sachin was an upper hand player – not many people technically know this, this is my opinion.”
