Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) still waits to lift their first IPL (Indian Premier League) trophy and hence are keen to build their team strong enough to lift the trophy in IPL 2022. AB de Villiers announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. Therefore, he will not be a part of RCB as well as IPL 2022. There are certain retention rules like a team cannot retain more than 4 players. They are not allowed to retain more than 3 Indian and 2 overseas players. Also, a team can retain a maximum of 2 uncapped players. If a team decides to retain 3 players, the first-choice retention will receive an amount of Rs 15 crore. The Old Days of Royal Challengers Bangalore
It was founded in 2008 by United Spirits and named after a liquor brand Royal Challenge. The Bangalore franchise was acquired by Vijay Mallya who paid $111.6 million for it. Leading the 2008 player auction, the IPL named Rahul Dravid as the icon player for Bangalore franchise, which meant he would be paid 15% more than the highest bid player at the auction. The team won only 4 out of 14 matches in the inaugural season.

Virat Kohli earlier revealed that he will step down as RCB captain in IPL 2022. But he claimed that he will continue to play for the franchise. This gave a confirmation that Virat Kohli will be the first player to be retained by RCB in IPL 2022. And this is what exactly happened, the Bangalore franchise have retained former captain Virat Kohli with a price of Rs 15 crore. Fans have a lot of expectations from him this time. Kohli has so far scored 6283 runs in 207 IPL matches since he joined RCB.
2. Exceptionally Promising Glenn Maxwell – 11 Crore
While most of the batters find it difficult to play on dry pitches in Chennai and Sharjah, Maxwell managed to maintain a strike rate of 149.15 and 138.33 on these grounds respectively. He demonstrated his worth by finishing the league 2021 as RCB’s leading run-scorer with 498 runs in 14 matches with an average of 45.27. He has been retained by the Bangalore Franchise with a price of Rs 11 crore. Hence, he comes second in RCB retained players list 2022.

3. Aspiring Young Siraj – 7 Crore
Mohammed Siraj, made a name for himself as he guided Hyderabad to a quarter-final finish in the Ranji Trophy, taking 41 wickets from nine matches and finishing as the third leading wicket-taker in the coveted tournament. And that effort brought him immense recognition and a place in the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise for the 10th edition of the IPL. Also finished the IPL 2021 with 11 wickets from 15 matches with an average of 32.09 and strike rate of 28.36. The Bangalore franchise has retained him for Rs 7 crore.
