Over the past couple of days, there have been talks about Hamilton joining a different team and possibly leaving Mercedes after his contract expires. The Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner, said something that has created several controversies. So first, let us go with the earlier controversy and later what Lewis Hamilton said about his views of joining Red Bull and partnering with Max Verstappen.
Recently, Christian Horner said,
“We had several conversations over the years about Lewis joining Red Bull. Most recently earlier in the year. There was an inquiry about whether there would be any interest. But I can’t see Max and Lewis together. The dynamic wouldn’t be right.”
He also mentioned that “Hamilton had conservations with John Elkann (Ferrari chairman).”
Later, Lewis Hamilton was quick to reply and said,
“I have not approached Christian! I have not talked to him in years.”
But later that night, he also said,
“I’d be more than happy to race against Max in the same car.”
Here is the full statement: “I’d be more than happy to race against Max in the same car. That would be wonderful. I don’t think he wants me to be his teammate.”
Well, the past couple of days have been a complete cinema, and if Max and Verstappen are together on the same team, fans as well as Netflix would definitely go crazy.
But there is less than a 1 percent chance of Hamilton joining Red Bull when Verstappen is a part of the team. Both drivers are quite competitive against each other, and things might end up like the 2016 Mercedes season or the 2019 Red Bull season, which is not good for the team. Whereas, when it comes to fans, this is what they want!
Whether Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will be a part of the same team in the upcoming season, only time will let us know.
